ABOUT THIS COURSE

An excellent introduction to practical drilling, this course provides instruction in safety, correct clamping and work-holding, calculating drill speeds for various materials and covers a range of drilling operations. Instruction takes place both in the classroom and in Seta’s fully equipped workshop.

This course is ideally suited to those with little or no previous drilling experience.

CONTENT

  • Safety relevant to drilling:- P.U.W.E.R. 2000, machine guards and dead stops
  • Radial Arm Drill
  • Tools speeds and feeds:- incorporating formula to calculate drill speeds and the need for various cutting tools for different materials
  • Knowledge of controls for safe use Tapping:- using tapping box and forward and reverse gears
  • Counter Boring and Counter Sinking
  • Correct Clamping and Work Holding
  • Pedestal Drill: Speeds:- How to change the speed and safely change the pulley belts Coolants:- Associated with drilling, types and uses
  • Faults:- Guidance on drilling faults which may occur and how to avoid them
